Sometimes our high seas get temporarily replaced by highways.
Casstaway is currently docked in Florida but our family and friends are spread westward from Indiana to Missouri to Texas to Washington; or, as the song goes, we are now stretched “from sea to shining sea”. So, how do we get quality time with our clan? While Casstaway is plenty spacious enough for the two of us, our days of hosting 20+ people for family gatherings are long gone. And even though our aft cabin is perfectly comfortable and cozy (ok, maybe kind of like sleeping in an MRI machine), our teeny, tiny head (bathroom) and close quarters provide no privacy for guests who might be shy about their bathroom habits. So, it just makes sense that we regularly find opportunity to take the TnT show “on the road” (especially during Florida summer’s heat and humidity). So off we go! And for a recent few weeks we were pounding the pavement and flying the skies, visiting loved ones.
We had a wonderful time – gathering lots of hugs, catching up and reminiscing, helping out when needed, sleeping in big beds, and enjoying the culinary genius of others. When we returned to Palmetto last week we were smiling, chubby, and armed with tons of photos, feeling that the time had flown.
But now that we’re finally back aboard Casstaway enjoying our “backyard” and sunset, we’ve mutually exclaimed that “there’s no place like home”.
