Where in the world are Todd and Tanya?
Casstaway is docked at Regatta Pointe Marina in Palmetto, Florida. Palmetto is on the Florida Gulf Coast, South of Tampa and North of Sarasota; it sits on the Manatee River, about 7 miles from Tampa Bay and 12 miles from the Gulf of Mexico. We are an easy drive to Clearwater/St. Pete and Tampa, and only an hour and a half from Disney World (we’re hoping the twins will be more than happy to come visit Mimi and Pappy!)
Here’s a beautiful aerial flyover view. Eagle eyes will note what looks like a floating church. It used to be a wedding chapel, but is now a private residence that is available for rent on Airbnb. Regatta Pointe hosts a large liveaboard community with lots of nice amenities for folks who stay on their boats for extended periods of time – showers, laundry, pool and hot tub, two restaurants, a fitness room, free morning coffee, and even complimentary donuts on Saturdays! The best part? They pump out our head (bathroom) holding tank every week – fresh as a flower in less than an hour!
So far we absolutely love living aboard – Todd has adjusted beautifully to working full time from his onboard office, I have kept busy with the routine of boat life – cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping, laundry, writing blogs…We sit outside in the cockpit every evening greeting our neignbors, watching the sunset, and enjoying cocktails and dinner. We’ve had several visitors from Indy and we’ve hosted quite a few of our neighbors for an evening of wine, snacks, and sea stories. This week brings the arrival of our cockpit seats and the installation of our name, logo, and hailing port graphics. We’ll then be “official” – we can’t wait to crack that bottle of champagne!
