Long and Winding Road to Water

Long ago and far away, we planned to depart Regatta Pointe Marina for the last time and set out for sea-faring adventures yet unknown – a life “on the hook” cruising Casstaway full time and journeying wherever the winds might take us (meaning a return to the Bahamas and then on through the Caribbean).

But once again life got in the way, beginning with a nasty pandemic, and sprinkled with family drama and trauma, hurricane season, and sundry other roadblocks. Weeks turned into months and our plan to get off that roadway and onto the waterway continued to be filled with delays. But with patience and perseverance, we found ourselves finally within a week of Bon voyage.

And then….

How many things on a boat decide they need fixing, replacing, or cleaning in the last week, day, or hour before you plan to leave the marina and set sail on your dream? Just about everything. Our week of preparations stretched to a month as it seemed that every task completed led to adding at least three more to the list. And EVERYTHING took longer than anticipated and required one more Amazon order or trip to West Marine, Home Depot, or Walmart. But finally….voila! We found ourselves waving goodbye to our RPM boating family and heading downriver to Emerson Point, where we are currently riding out the winds of tropical storm Eta and planning our trip down Florida’s west coast. When we get to the Keys we’ve scheduled a stop in Marathon for a bottom job and a quick flight home to spend Christmas and New Year’s with friends and family.

And in January? Off we go again….

Goodbye Regatta Pointe Marina, hello adventures yet to come.
