Saturday, April 2, 2022 is a warm, sunny day, with winds from the Southeast around 10 knots. We are four ships under sail as we make our way from Highborne Cay to our next anchorage at Shroud Cay. Not a fast ride, but very comfortable, as we finish our coffee with a little smooth jazz accompanying the wind and the waves.
We arrive at Shroud to find friends from Regatta Point Marina, Eric and Martha Shull, already at anchor on their monohull, Ellen Ruth. We have been eager to catch up with them. Our little armada has now grown to five vessels, as Ellen Ruth plans to travel with us to Warderick Wells, where we hope to spend time with other good friends from RPM, Perry and Angela Covey, on their Catalina 445, Navigant.
Shroud Cay is is a beautiful anchorage with much to explore. On Sunday morning we form a dinghy flotilla and travel through the North creek to the beautiful beach on the other side of the Cay. A hiking trail leads to a high point with gorgeous views and photo opportunities. Admiral Wendy brings donut floaties and we all take turns riding the small tide rapids from the dinghy landing beach to its big sister. The dinghy ride back to Casstaway yields tons of turtle sightings. Our Sunday Funday ends with steak night aboard EWWE2. Yummy ceviche that Wendy made from EWWE2’s very first conch retrieval at Frazers Hog Cay.
Monday, April 4 is a lazy day aboard Casstaway. Lacking a kayak (something we hope to remedy as soon as the budget allows) we cannot explore the creeks that are limited to non-motorized vehicles. So we catch up on our reading and relaxing. Tanya makes a delicious (she thought, Todd not so much) first-time green curry chicken and a tomato cucumber salad (Captain did like the salad).
